Our History
What was once a humble school of 1 classroom, 1 teachers and 10 students, has blossomed into a thriving community of 210 local students, 10 teachers and 9 classrooms.
Starting in 2016 Shikabania has participated in the Tanzania National Assessment Testing. Shikabania students have consistently scored well on this important examination. In 2019 our students have placed in the top 2% of the 7,102 schools across the country.
We are so proud of the success of our students and their teachers. We look forward to many new achievements ahead!
Our Plan
Spending at Shikabania is 98% less than schools in the United States. We are able to educate a child for $250 per year compared to the average cost in the US of $12,500 per student. That means every dollar spent goes 50 times as far at Shikabania.
What’s next for Shikabania?! We are looking to raise $1 million to protect the future for generations of children. Our endowment is currently just over $100,000. We currently have a matching grant, so every dollar you give to our endowment will be doubled.
